Morning Devotion

Every morning, on my way to work, I say my morning reaffirmation:

O Great Goddess, Mother of us all
Sole wisdom worth the winning
In Thee we find our purpose
Our end and our beginning

Sometimes I add a blessing I learned early in my practice.  It was the blessing and salutation used by Great Britain's own resident witch, Sybil Leek:

Blessed Be, O Supreme Goddess
In all thy many names and manifold attributes.

Today's Animal Spirit...

Fox comes to us today with a message of being mindful of our surroundings.  He is known by the Native Americans to be a most effective shape-shifter and incredibly adaptable.  He can teach us to do the same...adapting, blending in and using our surroundings and circumstances to our advantage.  As the master of camouflage, he can teach us to be still and silent and all the qualities of patience.  By doing so, we can observe and examine our position from different angles.  Look at the picture I've included.  See how he seems to blend into the background?  He is also known to be cunning and ingenious, traits we can use to approach things in more creative ways than we normally would.  Fox reminds us that we must utilize all of our resources, seen and unseen, in order to accomplish what we want.  He inspires us to "think outside of the box" and try unorthodox methods with courage, persistence and dedication.

Today's Message...

You're being asked to reexamine your intentions today.  What is the real reason you want to reach your goal?  Are you being driven by your true destiny, or lured by fantasy and desires of the ego?  It's time to be very clear about your direction and know that there's no easier way or shortcut.
It appears as though you are limiting and thwarting the outcome of your desires by over-analyzing and thinking too much.  It's important to allow Spirit to decide "how" a situation will resolve.  We may think that there are only specific ways to arrive at our desired outcome, but there are unimaginable permutations contained within the infinite universe.  Remember the old saying, "Let go, let God?"  Well, that's exactly what's being said in this message.  Set your sights on your highest good, and allow the flow of universal energies to take you where you need to be.

Truly Independent

So I decided to pull from my new deck, Goddess of the New Light.  I asked what message Spirit had for my readers, what did they need to focus on at this time in their lives.
Mary Magdalene was the card I pulled.  Jesus called her, "the one who knew the All."  New evidence has been emerging to suggest that Jesus shared more with her because of his love for her.  If you have the time, google the teachings of Mary Magdalene.  They're quite remarkable.
Her message to us today is one of unconditional love.  Be true to yourself and your path by living fully, sensually, and unconditionally in divine love.
For two thousand years, she was viewed as a sinner(prostitute), yet she was loved and honored by Jesus.  Time and custom can change public perception, but the kind heart and loving soul dwells forever in paradise.
I think the real message is for us to refuse and deny judgement from others, but more importantly, from ourselves.  Your path is yours alone and no one person's will be the same.  Eliminate judgement on all levels, and start to live a more authentic life.

An accompanying affirmation:  I am beloved of the divine.

2011...What Does It Hold?

The new year is coming up in a few days, so I thought I'd prognosticate on what's in store for all of us.
The year 2011 corresponds to the number 4 in numerology.  It represents a foundation of sorts, of building, a cornerstone.  But, on the flip side, it's also the number representing a stubborn, bossy type of character.  I found this quite remarkable, since the 4th card in the tarot deck is the Emperor.  This is the overall ambience for 2011.
As I meditated on this, I began to receive continuing messages.  The first that comes to mind is a definite leap in medical discoveries.  I see alot of progress happening on the experimental front.  What concerns me about these great findings is the further corruption of earth.  On this level, we need to be very aware of being too rigid or inflexible.
The Emperor very often is representative of the superego, which relates to Zeus from Greek mythology.  The positive aspect that we can glean from his mythos is that of a rebellious nature.  Not quite being able to wrap my head around the whole meaning of this revelation, I asked for clarification from the animal spirits.  The spirit that came to me was the Blue Jay.  You can always rely on the animal kingdom to simplify any misconceptions.  Blue Jay encourages us to be sassy.  If there's something you've been wanting, ask for it.  If there's an issue that needs confrontation, don't sweep it under the rug or Blue Jay will drag it back out into the open.  One word of caution, though—Blue Jays will eat the young of other birds—so be direct, but not destructive.
Clearly, the message here is to balance skill, leadership, humility and compassion.  I believe the word of caution is to be applied to the illusion of pride.  Our children, the youth of our world, will be teaching us alot of lessons this coming year.  Look to them as beacons of hope.

All Blessings Be and a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.  )O(

Message from the Fey

So, I asked the Faery Oracle if they had a message for my readers, and this is what came up.  It's funny, because the message of listening to the heart tempered with practicality applies to my life.  I often find that the readings I do for others seem to follow same suit.  My thought is readings or any kind of healing are meant to heal the lightworker, as well as the querent.  Gotta love magick!
Ultimately, Lys is trying to help people develop true self-respect and self-esteem, but she has to start much further down the scale of idealism than that. She tries to inspire practical help for those who need it most. She is the inspiration for the first wobbly steps taken toward healing by a damaged soul. Her presence in a reading indicates that something that had seemed lost and fixed in that loss is now open to healing. Someone is ready to begin, with help, the climb out of the inner mire. There is hope here, and a need for loving kindness tempered by practicality. If you call upon Lys for assistance in helping another, she will always give it, often by encouraging them to be receptive and others to also be helpful. She always has time to support those who have time for others.

Today's Animal Spirit...Butterfly

Ok...so she's not necessarily an animal, but she flits into our lives today to bring us a valuable message.  Not surprisingly, Butterfly has similar spiritual meaning in every culture in the world.  She brings us the concept of transformation, change, and gentle transition.  Change is very hard for most of us; but by giving in to the flow rather than working against the universal currents, we can arrive at a much better state than we imagined.  The changes that occur in our lives are usually quite different than we expect.  Butterfly teaches us that growth doesn't have to be painful, if we open ourselves to the awareness of her colorful lightness and joyous dance on the winds of life.
In this season of the rebirth of the light/the Sun, let us take time to discern what is important right now, be thankful for our blessings, and above all...don't sweat the small stuff.

An Irish blessing goes: "May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun, and find your shoulder to light on...to bring you luck, happiness and riches today, tomorrow and beyond."

Today's Animal Spirit...

Wake up! Woodpecker is tired of trying to get your attention, and will peck and peck and peck until you hear the message. You have received the answer to a major question time and again, but refuse to act on it. Keep in mind that procrastination may be the problem. Heaven knows we've all suffered from it time and again. It's okay to ignore a solution—but be forewarned that woodpecker will keep making racket until you make some movement forward. Don't force the universe to give you a big kick in the butt!

Today's reading...

The Wheel keeps on turning, and you have no choice but to move with it. The Wheel of Fortune indicates that your psyche, or your spirit, just won't rest. It keeps hashing and rehashing things you thought were settled. The Wheel of Fortune never ceases. If you feel like you want to get off life's Merry Go Round, there is only one way to do it ~ find sanctuary at the center, the place from which all the motion emanates. There is no way to stay on top forever~ your challenge is to learn to accept the cycles of life, including all its ups and downs.

Discontentment and boredom have closed your eyes. Curiosity and interest can awaken your sight to new possibilities. The Four of Cups points to a transitory stagnation. Your will has dissipated for a moment; your mind is distracted from its true goal. A hazy sense of disappointment and melancholy may be stifling your sense of self, and replacing it with emptiness and detachment. Open your eyes, and see the magic of your everyday life~ light your inner fire, it is only through action and movement that this stagnation will end. There may be lessons to be learned from this suspended state of animation, but dwelling on it can be worse than a waste of time.

What we achieve is a mirror image of our personality
and strength, and you are becoming progressively more aware of the part you play in the world, and it's intrinsic value. The Ace of Pentacles is the underpinning of your increasing value~ it symbolizes the Law of Attraction. You are in the process of becoming 'magnetized', and you will begin attracting more and more, until you have more abundance than you ever dreamed of. You are discovering that your soul, your awareness and your contribution to the world, is the path to fulfillment, both spiritually and physically.

You may recognize this experience, or you may not have experienced it before. This is a time for healing, and you are ready to take responsibility for getting well, no matter what it takes. This may be physical, mental or emotional, and more than likely, it's also Karmic. Temperance challenges you to phase in positive changes in lifestyle and outlook, while letting go of negative behaviors and ways of thinking. The process will flush out the noxious residue of disappointment and failure that is crippling you. Physician, heal thyself~ you are capable of discerning the right medicine to cure what ails you. This is the time to begin healing.

Knight of Wands

The Knight of Wands highlights your optimistic readiness to embark upon an odyssey of discovery. You are mentally and emotionally prepared to go the distance, your excitement and youthful enthusiasm can hardly be contained. Today's Angel Reading

"You are confused and indecisive because you do not have enough information. Do research or seek expert advice before making a decision."

Additional Message: "You have felt like you are chasing your tail, looking at this option, then that option. This indecisiveness is exhausting you, dear one! The reason why you're confused is that you do not have enough information to make an informed decision. Your choices appear too similar right now, but once you conduct additional research, your decision will become more clear."

"First, begin by asking God and the angels to enter your dreams and give you more information. Then, ask your feelings to give you guidance. This means imagining what it would feel like to make this decision. Then, imagine what it would feel like to make the other choice. Go deep within, and notice how your body reacts as you try on the different options. If your gut or jaw tightens, this is a sign that something isn't right. If your heart flutters with warmth, this is a sign that you are on the right path. Before making your final decision, seek the counsel of wise friends and teachers whose experience and intuition can guide you."

Today's Tarot Reading

The Empress

Your warm and generous being is a light beaconing to those around you, and others seek you out as if you were a personification of the Great Earth Mother. The Empress symbolizes comfort, harmony, wisdom and creativity. She is the Divine Mother, she is the bountiful web of life, it is the energy of creation through which we come into being. The Empress embodies joyful good health, healing, music, art, beauty and truth. Our highest ideals of truth are learned in her Temple.

Strength

You uphold a high code of conduct, you value composure and restraint. The Strength card comments on your capacity to subdue emotions, impulses and primal instincts. This is a sensual and subtle extrasensory ability that can communicate nonverbally. it is a calming energy which others react to in kind, with higher levels of composure than they usually do. The Strength card indicates a grounded and centered energy that subdues discord, setting the stage for harmony and cooperation.

King of Swords

The King of Swords is an icon of justice and fair treatment. He is a mediator, and a wise judge. Analytical and impartial, the King of Swords patiently listens, and probes deeply with well thought out questions. In the current drama, you are being looked upon as the mediator, the impartial authority, and your opinion will be respected. Channel the King of Swords into the current situation, and he will serve you well.

The Great Teacher

Nature is considered to be the Great Teacher. The Ancients taught that the "Creators" placed into the fabric of Creation, a reflection of that which created it. Therefore, the laws of Nature are reflections of Divine Laws or Principles, which operate in a dimension behind and above those of physical Nature. Thus, the Ancients coined the phrase "as above, so below". This means that that which is below, is (in essence) like that which is above.

Studying the Ways of Nature gives us a glimpse of the Divine Ways, and from these we see the returning of the Seasons (reincarnation) and the laws of Cause & Effect (Karma) concerning the use (and misuse) of the Earth's land, air, resources, and living creatures. The ways of Spirit are imprinted upon the Ways of Nature. Understanding Nature, allows one to begin to understand the Creators.

This is my reasoning for the Animal Spirit messages that you've read in my blog. The animals, with their simplistic life-views & survivalist intuition, offer profound wisdom for reaching our truest & oftentimes, ignored potential.

With that, I give you today's message of wisdom from our animal brothers & sisters:
You’ve heard the expression “playing possum”? It means to play dead and is derived from Opossum’s ability to act in whatever way the situation demands. If it’s practical to play dead, so be it; if it’s to Opossum’s advantage to be aggressive, watch out! Take your cue from this master actor today—and play the role that will serve you best.

The Bitch Goddess!

The Queen of Swords has been through many trials, many conflicts in her life. She has weathered them with strength and courage, standing steadfast in the face of misfortune and sorrow. She has lost loved ones and experienced pain; but instead of letting these experiences make her bitter, she has let them temper her and strengthen her resolve. She is realistic and pragmatic; she is a loyal friend and determined ally.

The Queen of Swords brings these attributes into your life either directly to you in your approach to life or in the shape of a relationship in your life with a person of Queen of Swords characteristics.

The Queen of Swords is portrayed amongst the swirling air that governs her suit. She has wings to lift her mind above her earthly problems. She bears a third eye of intuition, a sixth sense of wisdom. Butterflies symbolizing change after incubation fly around her. She has been through hard times and has become stronger, she is able to cut through illusions with clarity.

The Queen of Swords presents us with a feminine image who has discovered her strength and wisdom through the trials she has borne in her life. Experience and life learned through difficult, painful lessons have seasoned her expectations. This might have taught her to be pushy and extreme in getting people to see her point of view.

The waitress in the movie White Palace is a Queen of Swords character. She has been betrayed in the past but is stronger for it. She is realistic and has no illusions about who she is and what she expects from life. The waitress Carol Connelly in the movie As Good as It Gets is another Queen of Swords character.
