DIY Witch Ball

Witch balls were once common fixtures in Windows, especially in England during the 18th century... Although their origin is thought to be much older.
The hollow glass spheres were hung to ward off witch's spells, evil spirits, curses and bad luck.
It is believed that negative forces are mesmerised by the ball's reflective beauty then absorbed and trapped in the web like strands of glass inside the ball.
Today, the balls are difficult to find and can be quite expensive. Here is a way to make your own:
You will need a clear glass ball or Christmas ornament with an opening at one end. If the glass ball has some kind of design, choose one you like or one you can change with further decoration. He will also need a bottle of silver paint, a few drops of Frankincense or Patchouli oil, a school of red thread and a pair of scissors.
Cover your working space with newspaper to protect against spills. Take the metal cap off of the ornament. Carefully pour a little of the silver paint inside the ball and swish it around until the inside is completely covered with silver. Set it aside to dry.
When the paint is totally dry, cut the red thread into 3 inch lengths. Carefully poke This Thread into the open end of the ball. Continue cutting and putting the thread into the ball until it is nearly full. Put in a few drops of oil. Then put the end back on the ornament. If it has no end, seal it with candle wax.
When you hang the protection ball, chant:

Symbol of the Moon,
symbol of the Lady Divine,
Reject all negativity,
Defend this home,
Me and mine.

Realm of Availability

    There is one more thing I would like you to know before we move on to the actual "work" of Witchcraft.  I want you to thoroughly understand this point, since it will factor in to all of your "work."

    When you cast a spell or do a ritual, be ever mindful to work within your realm of availability.  This realm can be visualized as a sphere that encompasses your life.  Basically, it's your one little world.  Your "availability" is what you are capable of manifesting, within reason, in your world.  I'm gonna go out on a limb and say most of you probably don't have the resources available for a second house in the Bahamas.  If you do, I'm jealous!  But I'm sure most of you do have the resources for a better home or apartment.  So, you cast the spell for a better home, you get it and your "little world" sphere just expanded.  Are you with me?
   As you work magick to transform your life in these little ways, your realm of availability grows.  Your confidence in your power to change your life will also grow along with it.  As an added benefit of working with this concept, you won't get discouraged when your "Sail Into the Sunset Yacht Spell" just didn't seem to work.

Magick: Experiment

ANOTHER ENERGY EXERCISE

1.  Rub your palms together very briskly for about 15 seconds.

2.  Stop and separate your palms about 6 inches from each other.

3.  Now, move them in very close together, but not touching.

4.  Then, move them out and away again.  Give this exercise a little time.

Continue to move them in and out, and you'll start to feel a pressure between your hands...like there's actually something there.

    Well, there is!  You've just created a ball of energy between your hands.

    Sometimes, if you try this in a darkened room, you can even see the energy.  You might want to try this later on.  It usually appears as blue/white light or sometimes strands of light passing from one hand to the other.  You can get creative and do this exercise with a friend.  Simply pass the ball of energy back and forth to one another.  You can also try building it; make it bigger or change its shape.  Do this exercise often.  It's a great way to practice raising energy, as well as reminding you of the power you now have available to you.

Try this the next time you need to craft a spell from scratch. You will need some sort of divination tool, i.e. tarot, runes, etc.
Draw 4 cards, stones, et al. Each one will represent the basic idea for the 4 corresponding parts of your spell (listed below).  You embellish, elaborate and add your own personal touches.

1. consecration and purification
2. petition 
3. offering and blessing
4. closing / dismissal

PROTECTION

I thought this might be a good excerpt to share from my book, since it's Tuesday which is ruled by the planet Mars.  Ares or Mars is the Greco/Roman god of war and so lends very potent and powerful energy to any protection spells.

"When should a Witch protect themselves?  AT ALL TIMES!  Here then are some more protection tidbits

• Bells hung from the doors guard against intruders and stagnant energy.  Hang them where the air current can ring them.  They will set up movement in the air and clear the psychic debris from your home.  When I managed a new age shop, I used to use them when negative people came in the store.  It was very amusing to watch how quickly they would leave.  Not to mention, they are very good feng shui.
•  An onion on your kitchen window will absorb ill will.  When it starts to decay, replace it and throw away the old one.  Under no circumstances should the old onion be used or eaten.
• Salt water left out in the center of a room all night will absorb negativity.  Wash it away with flowing water the next morning.  A small dish on your nightstand has the same effect for a good night’s rest.
• A large amethyst is powerful protection against psychic vampires.  You know who I’m talking about…those people who just seem to drain you when they’re around.
• Healthy house plants, especially ferns and ivy, will create an aura of protective energy.  Again, another feng shui remedy.  Just be sure your children or pets can’t reach any poisonous plants.
• Totem animal statues or pictures can be blessed and used to protect your home.
• Native American dream catchers are also used to catch and tangle up negative energy before it has a chance to enter your dreams."

The Witch's Pyramid

Yet another excerpt from my soon-to-be-released book...


"As I was perusing the library shelves one day, I came across numerous books on creating your life through visualization and positive thinking.  Reading through all those books, I started to realize, “O my goddess!  This is the Witch’s Pyramid!”  Here were all these new releases teaching a concept that has been passed down through generations of Witches.  My first thought was, “Foolish mortals…it’s about time.”  So, if you’ve been reading a lot of self-help and positive thinking books, you may recognize the similarity to the Witch’s Pyramid.

    I wrote it in rhyming fashion to make it easier to remember, as well as an attempt to make it fun.  Included is a more detailed description, in case the poem doesn't cut it.

The Witch’s Pyramid begins at the base.

Remember these corners, if its peak you would trace:

First, Imagination is fueled by desire,

Then ritual raises the energy higher.

Next, energy is molded and shaped by Will,

Then focused by the spell designed to fulfill.

Faith feeds desires with enthusiasm and love,

So relax, let go and be confident it will come.

But, continue in Secrecy, protect with closed mouth;

Lest the energy be weakened or scatter about.

When balanced and functioning, the Pyramid is whole;

At the top is Accomplishment of your particular goal."

Spell for a Happy Home

This is a spell I wrote many years ago and still use.  I really like the words of the spell, not to mention the effect.  It's a really great spell to use prior to a party or celebration.
All you will need is a white candle, but feel free to get creative.  I've used a huge 5 wick candle before that I painted a peaceful scene around, or you could use a beautiful crystal bowl filled with water and a floating candle.  It can be very dramatic with glitter sprinkled in the water.  Whatever you use, make sure it's something that really speaks to you.
Hold the candle to your heart, as you recite the incantation.  This transfers energy from your heart center to the candle to charge it.

Holy light to cast out ill

With love and peace this home now fill

Bring all friends together with love

And spiritual blessings from above

That's it!  Now light your candle and let the magick begin!

Responsible Guilt

Guilt is a sort of bond which holds us back from moving on with our lives.  This is not a life-affirming feeling.  Not only can guilt play upon the mind, but it can also manifest itself physically.  All ancient healing techniques teach the correlation of spirit, mind and body.  When left unnoticed, spiritual and emotional hurts may surface as a sickness or even disease.  Much has been written regarding these manifestations.  Google "spiritual meaning of illness", and you'll see what I'm talking about.  The whole subject is very fascinating.  Modern medicine teaches us to ascertain the source of our illness, so that proper treatment can be applied.  Here, we are approaching it from a metaphysical standpoint.  For example, feeling unloved can often lead to heart problems.  Feeling as though your life is going nowhere can lead to leg or feet related issues.  There's so much more, but let's move on to what you can do now about any guilt that may have been dealt to you or even self-inflicted.
Light a white candle to signify the presence of Spirit and place it on a table in a dimly lit room.  In front of the candle, place a mirror.  Make sure the mirror is big enough that you see your whole face reflected.  As you read the incantation below, pause and think about what the words are saying. Look at your reflection.  Can you see the pain, the hurt, the isolation that this silly emotional response has created?  Now feel a total release from this bond of guilt, experience the relief, let out a big sigh and smile.
When you have finished with your cleansing, extinguish the candle and return to your normal tasks.  Don't entertain any thought of it from this moment on.

Filled with guilt but serves me nought

The heart aches what hands have wrought

The deed is done with great remorse

But hearts erred not from the original source

So with love and joy now be replaced

And let old patterns be erased

From soul and mind, from heart and spleen

Be washed.  Be Free.  Be clean.  Be clean.

Purified of all my past, only love within me last.

Note:  The last line, "Purified of all..." can be used whenever you feel a need to clear any emotional baggage.  Simply chant the whole last line over and over, until you feel released.

Reclaiming the Power

So, Monday night was the full moon. OMG! It was so beautiful! May's Full Moon is called the Flower Moon & sometimes, the Milk Moon.

I wanted to share with you my personal ritual for "Drawing Down the Moon."

Stand, facing her, & simply gaze for a few moments. Empty your mind & just enjoy her natural beauty. When you feel that peaceful, comfortable feeling...when your mind & body are at rest & relaxed...lift your hands in the crescent shape & begin to chant this rune:

Here in this Circle of the Moon

I call the Maiden, Mother, Crone

Rounded and complete of purpose

In the fullness of your presence

Yours is Magick! Yours is Power!

Make me One with your Essence!

Keep chanting this at least 3X or until you feel the energy within you peak. Once you feel you have drawn the power of the moon within you, seal it with a final "So Mote It Be." Then touch your hands to the earth or floor, depending on where you are performing the ritual. This will serve to ground the energy & make it useful to you.

Sweet Success...

This is a good spell to get that beneficial karma circulating your way. Remember, karma isn’t always about the bad stuff.
All you need is a handful of candy & a white or orange candle.

Light the candle, and place the candies in a pile on your altar or table. Make a triangle with your index finger and thumb of both hands just like in the picture, and then move your hands in a deosil (clockwise) direction over the candies while you chant:

Charmed be these treats so sweet
Great fortune to all I merry meet!

Chant until you feel the energy has peaked. Then seal it with a

“So Mote It Be!

Then give out the candies to friends and family and three people you don't know.
